  • A booloop enjoys a peaceful start to the day, perched up in a Twillaby tree. Anticipating a tasty lunch with friends ("berrybud jelly, oh happy belly!"), he tumbles into more adventure than he had counted on. Leisurely strolling to lunch with his friends, the booloop narrowly escapes being lunch for a lurking wood fox. The booloop dodges her pounce by racing through brambles, skittering around sticker bushes, and vaulting across rocky terrain. Thorns clutch at his clothing and grab his hat. He arrives "uncommonly worn and tattered and torn" and badly in need of a rest. But when his hostess calls everyone to come to the table the booloop is happily prompt to respond.

"The adventure continues in Patricia Black's second book! Just like Twillaby Pond, Lilyfield Bog is full of entrancing creatures like the whistling skitterwraiths, wiwisties, and our protagonist: the tree-climbing booloop. Patricia immerses us in a fantastical world, and we happily settle in for the journey. Her innate wit and linguistic brilliance shines throughout this tale of expedition and friendship. This is one you'll want to return to again and again, as it implores you to say "Hello to the day! Let's see what it brings!" ~ Stephanie Kendrick, Athens Ohio Poet Laureate
